Islamorada claims the title of "Fishing Capital of the World" with justification. According to the International Game Fish Association (IGFA), there are 33 current world records from this port in a wide variety of gamefish. These include amberjack, barracuda, little tunny, bonefish, dolphin, jewfish, king mackerel, permit, African pompano, hogfish, tiger shark, cubera, tarpon and blackfin tuna, some in several tackle classes.
